What Before & Beyond is

Before & Beyond Co. provides non-clinical premarital and marital consulting. The work is goal-oriented and forward-looking: you name what you want to change, and we build the practices to get there.

What Before & Beyond is not

This is not therapy, psychotherapy, counseling, or medical care.

Before & Beyond does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, does not provide psychotherapy, does not prescribe or advise on medication, and does not bill insurance. Nothing said in a session constitutes a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or medical advice.

If what you need is clinical care, we will say so directly and help you find it. Being told that is not a failure, and it costs you nothing.

What we ask of you

Consulting works when both people participate honestly. We ask that you arrive willing to be candid, that you do the agreed practices between sessions, and that you tell us when something is not working.

Confidentiality

What is said in the room stays in the room. We do not discuss your situation with anyone outside the engagement.

There are narrow limits, which apply to any responsible practitioner: where there is a serious and immediate risk of harm to you or someone else, where a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk, or where the law requires disclosure. These are rare, and we would tell you before acting wherever it is safe to do so.

Because this is a non-clinical practice, the legal protections that attach to communications with a licensed clinician do not apply here. That is worth understanding before you decide what to share.

No guaranteed outcome

We do not promise any particular result. Nobody honestly can. What we commit to is a structured process, sustained attention, and telling you the truth as we see it.

Fees and scheduling

Fees, session length, and cancellation terms are set out in your engagement agreement.
